What Year is it? 2021 Ryder Cup Breakdown

DVRX_RYDER_CUP_2021

The Ryder Cup has finally arrived. USA Captain Steve Stricker and European Captain Padraig Harrington have made their final picks and the roster is set for the 2021 Ryder Cup. Whistling Straits in Sheboygan, Wisconsin plays host to the Ryder Cup this year bringing a unique look to the competition. Contrary to a traditional American course layout, the steep cliff faces and intimidating undulations around the property strongly resemble links golf in the UK. Whistling Straits may end up suiting the eyes of team Europe more so than the United States due to the play style. The American side will need to bring their best game to Wisconsin this coming weekend to fend off the Europeans who have been waiting three long years to defend their title. With an average age of 29 years old, the Americans have a plethora of young talent ready to light a spark for the team. After a phenomenal finish to his 2021 FedEx Cup campaign, Patrick Cantlay is making his Ryder Cup debut. Cantlay is one of six Ryder Cup rookies on the USA side making up half of the team. Although this 2021 rendition lacks the experience of teams in the past, they certainly make up for it with their ability on the golf course. The American team does however include a few Ryder Cup veterans: Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Jordan Spieth, who will anchor this year’s USA squad. When it comes to team Europe they will not be hindered by lack of experience. Lee Westwood is making his 11th Ryder Cup start this week followed by Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia’s 10th starts as members of team Europe. Their experience is followed by none other than world number one Jon Rahm and former world number one, Rory McIlroy. The battle of Youth vs. Experience starts Friday, September 24th. Buckle up its going to be a fun one!
